Denzel, Luke, Jemma & James - www!

Our film is about a young mum, Hayley, who hasn’t been able to bring herself to speak or communicate with anyone for a long time.  She witnesses her neighbour, an aggressive alcoholic, abusing his children.  Hayley feels she must do something, but is battling with her solitude or whether to help.  As she discovers the reason for the father’s anger, the audience also learns the truth behind her silence.

The film crew and actors are all connected by attending the same college or through family; the actor who plays the father is a professional actor we hired.  We wanted to make a film exploring the connections between people and neighbours, often we can be a separated society with a lack of community spirit.

From August to November I will be working alongside Gamma, Denzel, and Luke on a media project where we’ll be creating a 6 minute film.

Summary :

“Issues raised what would you do if you were in this situation (My Home). We have created a plot which includes 3 people living in the same street ; one, a man who is afraid of change and is unsatisfied with his life and dealing with issues such as an faithful wife who is having an affair however he has not got the courage to confront her about it and he is stuck in a dead end job that he believes if he leaves he will not find another job. A young carer who has had to sacrifice his childhood to become an adult at an early age to looks after his little sister as his father is a violent alcoholic unable to be a suitable parent. Lastly a mute who feels lonely and spends most of her time in her room on the computer and observes what happens in the neighbourhood and takes interest in others lives  in which she witnesses the man’s unhappiness and cheating wife and the abuse and grief and responsibilities the young carer has to deal with. However the mute’s conscience kicks in and she explores the consequences of her remaining silent and not acting though she sees the wrong and hurt going on.”

We’ve spent a lot of time and effort sharing ideas and inspiration and over time the ideas for our film have changed drastically to produce a story that we think has depth, unique and revolved around important issues that relate to people in their daily lives.
